American Express Launches ACE Developer Kit and Agent Purchase Protection
American Express has introduced the Agentic Commerce Experiences (ACE) Developer Kit and a new protection policy for purchases made by registered AI agents, announced in a press release.
The ACE Developer Kit provides a framework for integrating American Express-issued cards into AI-powered transactions. It includes services such as agent registration, account enablement, intent intelligence, payment credential management, and cart context sharing. These features are designed to ensure secure, authenticated, and transparent transactions on the company’s closed-loop network.
The company also unveiled Amex Agent Purchase Protection, a first-of-its-kind policy extending its purchase protection to transactions made by authorized AI agents. Eligible cardholders will be protected from charges resulting from agent errors, provided the transaction is authenticated and registered through the network.
American Express stated that its closed-loop network allows visibility across the entire transaction process, supporting fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and merchant transparency. The company is also working with AI platforms and industry associations to define standards and protocols for secure agentic commerce.
