AFP survey finds AI among top treasury priorities
The Association for Financial Professionals reports in an announcement that 30% of treasury practitioners rank AI and automation among their top five priorities. The 2026 survey, sponsored by PNC Bank, gathered responses from 425 practitioners in May.
Managing AI opportunities and risks was a significant challenge for 38% of respondents, while 35% cited using AI to automate manual processes. Only 34% rated themselves effective in AI knowledge, although 50% considered that knowledge important. AI and emerging technology policies received an effectiveness score of 2.9 out of 5, the lowest among the policies measured.
Cash and liquidity forecasting remained the leading priority, cited by 63% of respondents, and the most challenging activity, cited by 49%. The survey also found a gap in leadership planning: 90% considered vision and future planning essential, while 61% rated senior treasury professionals as effective in that area.
