Agentic AI Foundation Launches MCP Certification

The Model Context Protocol Associate certification tests knowledge of MCP architecture, implementation, security and governance through an online exam.

The Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) announced the Model Context Protocol Associate (MCPA), a vendor neutral certification for engineers, platform builders and AI governance professionals. The certification covers MCP concepts, architecture, implementation, security and governance.

The online, proctored multiple choice exam lasts 120 minutes. Its five domains are MCP fundamentals, architecture and components, interactions and execution, security and governance, and use cases and ecosystem. Topics include MCP hosts, clients, servers, tools, message flow, permissions, trust boundaries and risk controls.

The certification aligns with the MCP specification release dated 28 July 2026, and enrollment is open. AAIF describes the MCPA as the first official certification validating MCP knowledge and the first certification it has launched.

The foundation said monthly downloads across its Tier 1 MCP SDKs are approaching half a billion, and that total downloads of the TypeScript and Python SDKs have passed one billion.
