Amazon Kindle Introduces AI-Generated Recaps for Book Series

Apr 4, 2025
Amazon has launched a new 'Recaps' feature for Kindle users in the U.S., utilizing AI to generate summaries for book series, enhancing the reading experience.

Amazon has introduced a new 'Recaps' feature for Kindle users, which uses AI to generate summaries for books in a series. This feature is designed to help readers recall plot points and character arcs before diving into the latest installment of their favorite series. Although the company's press release did not explicitly mention AI, Amazon confirmed to TechCrunch that the recaps are indeed AI-generated.

The Recaps feature is currently available to Kindle device users in the United States, covering thousands of best-selling English-language e-books in series. Users can access these recaps by ensuring their Kindle software is up-to-date and looking for the 'View Recaps' button on the series page in their Kindle Library or through the series grouping menu.

Amazon plans to extend this feature to the Kindle app for iOS soon. The company assures that the recaps accurately reflect the book content, although some users have expressed concerns about the accuracy of AI-generated summaries. Despite these concerns, Amazon maintains that the feature adds convenience to series reading, allowing readers to engage more deeply with complex worlds and characters without losing the joy of discovery.
