AMD and Intel Unify PyTorch Optimizations for x86 CPUs

AMD and Intel said in a press release that they will combine their PyTorch CPU optimization work in oneDNN. The open source deep learning library will provide a common path for running optimized AI workloads across both companies' x86 processors.

The companies selected oneDNN as the default open source library for x86 acceleration within PyTorch. AMD will integrate its ZenDNN optimizations into oneDNN and has joined the Unified Acceleration Foundation as a steering member.

AMD and Intel are also working on AI Compute Extensions, an x86 instruction set architecture designed to accelerate matrix multiplication. Support will be added to PyTorch through future oneDNN updates.
