Anthropic Launches Claude Opus 5.5 With Lower Prices

Claude Opus 5.5 costs 40 percent less to run than Opus 5 on typical workloads and generates output more than 30 percent faster.

Anthropic releases Claude Opus 5.5 as an update to Claude Opus 5, which launched in July, the company said in an announcement. Anthropic says the model costs 40 percent less to run on typical workloads and generates output more than 30 percent faster than Opus 5.

Claude Opus 5.5 costs $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens, compared with $5 and $25 for Opus 5. Cache reads cost $0.20 per million tokens. A fast mode offers up to 2.5 times the speed for $8 per million input tokens and $40 per million output tokens.

The model includes safeguards for cybersecurity, biology and model distillation. It is available through Claude, the Claude Platform, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure under the identifier claude-opus-5-5. Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Claude Haiku 5.5 will follow in the coming weeks.
