Anthropic Releases Claude Haiku 5.5 With 75% Lower Average Cost
Anthropic announced on its website Claude Haiku 5.5, its fastest small model, with an average running cost about 75% below Haiku 4.5. It is available through the Claude Platform, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.
For prompts up to 100,000 tokens, Haiku 5.5 costs $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens. Rates rise to $0.50 and $2.50 respectively for longer prompts. The model also introduces adjustable effort settings to balance cost and performance.
Anthropic positions Haiku 5.5 for high volume tasks such as summaries, classification, database queries, customer support and browser use. The company also cut Claude Sonnet 5.5 cache read pricing by half to $0.10 per million tokens, which it says reduces costs for most agent tasks by about 20%.
