Apex Intelligence Raises Nearly $50 Million for Self Improving AI Models

Beijing based Apex Intelligence raised nearly $50 million in angel funding to develop foundation models that can improve their own research processes.

Apex Intelligence raised nearly $50 million across angel and angel plus rounds, the Beijing based company said in a press release. The company was founded in June 2026 and develops foundation models based on recursive self improvement.

The angel round was led by IDG Capital, LinkX Capital and XtalPi. Decent Capital, SEE Fund, Monad Ventures and Winsoul Capital also participated. Zhongguancun Science City Fund, SCGC and Shanghai Engine Fund led the angel plus round.

Apex Intelligence is building systems intended to generate research ideas and conduct cycles of hypothesis, experimentation, validation and iteration. The company said its systems have improved model training strategies and GPU kernels, and produced work in optimization theory, geometric topology and mathematical proofs.

The company plans to spend the funding on foundation models, computing infrastructure, model training, research data systems and recruitment.
