Apple Chooses Google's Gemini to Power Siri and Future AI Features
Apple and Google have entered a multi-year collaboration under which the next generation of Apple Foundation Models will use Google's Gemini models and cloud technology, announced in a press release. The partnership will support future Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalized version of Siri expected later this year.
According to the joint statement, Apple Inc. selected Google’s AI technology as the foundation for its upcoming models after an internal evaluation. Apple Intelligence will continue to run on Apple devices and its Private Cloud Compute infrastructure, maintaining the company’s established privacy standards.
The collaboration marks a rare instance of Apple integrating another company’s AI models into its ecosystem. While the deal is multi-year, it is not exclusive, allowing Apple to continue developing its own AI technologies alongside those powered by Gemini.
