ATDev Joins $41 Million ARPA-H Robotics Program to Advance Assistive Mobility
Assistive Technology Development, Inc. (ATDev) has joined the University of Pittsburgh-led Robotic Assistive Mobility and Manipulation Platform (RAMMP) program, funded by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) for up to $41 million, announced in a press release. The initiative aims to create open-source robotic assistive mobility and manipulation technologies that help people with disabilities live more independently.
The RAMMP program combines robotics, artificial intelligence, and digital twin simulation to enhance autonomy and reduce caregiver dependence. Led by Principal Investigator Rory Cooper, Ph.D., at the University of Pittsburgh, the project builds on decades of research from the Human Engineering Research Laboratories (HERL).
ATDev will lead the architectural design and development of a new operating system and simulation platform optimized for assistive technology. The company collaborates with partners including Carnegie Mellon University and Cornell University as part of the multi-institution effort.
