Avalara Unveils Aviator AI Agent Hub for Tax Compliance

Avalara unveiled Avalara Aviator in a press release, introducing an agent hub for tax and compliance workflows. The platform coordinates specialized AI agents through an orchestrator called Avi, while leaving decisions that require judgment and oversight with users.

Initial functions include mapping products to tax codes, reporting transaction and tax liability data, validating exemption certificates, generating tax matrices, analyzing results across applications, and configuring custom rules. Users can describe a tax rule in plain language, then Avi drafts it, tests it against historical transactions, identifies conflicts, and waits for approval before activation.

Avalara is initially providing Aviator to existing customers at no additional cost. General availability is expected after the Avalara CRUSH Europe event next month, with planned additions including self healing functions and proactive anomaly detection.
