Bloomberg Launches Enterprise MCP for Financial Data Access

Bloomberg launches Enterprise Model Context Protocol, an access layer connecting enterprise AI agents to licensed financial data, the company said in a press release. The service supports Bloomberg's Data License Plus offering and covers more than 100 million securities and over 50,000 fields.

Enterprise MCP lets agents find securities and fields through natural language instead of fixed identifiers. It provides pricing and reference data, company fundamentals, economic data and alternative data through one interface. Metadata explains field definitions, calculations and qualifiers such as currency, exchange, price type, period and date.

The service includes tools for retrieving historical universes, adjusting for corporate actions, reviewing revision history, identifying ticker outliers, reviewing price deviations and assessing sanctions exposure. Entitlement checks and audit controls apply before data is returned, while limits restrict the number of securities and fields available in each call.

Bloomberg hosts and manages Enterprise MCP, while clients control their connected agents, models, prompts and workflow instructions. The company plans to add real time data for intraday monitoring, trade checks, risk updates and exception handling, along with a separate service for Bloomberg Terminal subscribers.
