Canada and UK Renew AI Security Partnership
Canada and the United Kingdom renewed their AI security partnership during a visit to London by Evan Solomon, Canada's Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation. The countries announced the agreement in a government statement on October 13.
The partnership focuses on interoperable AI security standards, information sharing and expanded technical cooperation. The countries will exchange information about frontier AI capabilities, emerging risks and evaluation methods, including sensitive reporting through appropriate Five Eyes channels.
The Canadian AI Safety Institute and the UK AI Security Institute will explore staff exchanges and coordinated evaluations. The renewed agreement builds on the UK-Canada Science of AI Safety Partnership first announced in May 2024.
