Survey Finds Catholic College Graduates Report Greater AI Readiness

St. Mary's University released findings in a press release from HIR 3.0, a study comparing outcomes reported by graduates of Catholic colleges and secular institutions. The university's Center for Catholic Studies commissioned the third Holistic Impact Report in partnership with YouGov.

Among graduates of Catholic colleges, 44% said they use AI at least daily, compared with 36% of graduates of secular institutions. Another 33% said their college prepared them moderately or substantially to use AI, compared with 23% in the secular group. The study also found that 36% of Catholic college graduates expect AI to provide a significant or transformative benefit to society, versus 28% of secular college graduates.

The survey also covered work and personal values. It found that 75% of Catholic college graduates viewed their career as a meaningful calling, compared with 66% of secular college graduates. In addition, 79% said their work aligns with their core values and 71% said their institution helped them understand how work can serve others, compared with 70% and 56%, respectively, among secular college graduates.
