Central Introduces CTRL AI Agent Runtime for Back-Office Operations
Central has introduced CTRL, an AI agent runtime that powers the company’s back-office automation platform, announced in a press release. CTRL enables users to perform complex operational tasks through natural language commands while maintaining human oversight and auditability.
Unlike traditional AI tools that focus on answering questions, CTRL executes deterministic, multi-step workflows such as processing bonuses, handling payroll, or managing leave requests. The system translates user instructions into reproducible workflows that can be reviewed, modified, or approved in real time. Each action is logged immutably, providing transparency and compliance for regulated industries.
CTRL supports the A2UI protocol for AI agent interfaces, allowing users to interact through platforms like Slack or web applications with consistent approval interfaces. The runtime has been in production within Central’s Slack-based AI bot for over two years and is now available for early access customers.
