ChatGPT Adds Locked Chats With PIN and Biometric Access

Oct 20, 2026
ChatGPT users can now protect selected conversations with a PIN, Face ID, or Touch ID. Locked chats remain accessible but are separated from regular history, search results, and memory.

OpenAI is rolling out Locked Chats for ChatGPT, allowing users to protect conversations with a four digit PIN, Face ID, or Touch ID, according to TechCrunch. Locked conversations move into a separate section and do not appear in regular chat history, pinned conversations, or search results.

Users can return to locked conversations, unlike Temporary Chats. When Memory is enabled, Locked Chats uses separate memory shared within that section, and new information added there does not update regular Memory.

Locking a conversation does not create a separate encrypted vault, change retention periods, or remove information ChatGPT remembered before the lock. Resetting a PIN permanently deletes the chats, files, and other content protected by the previous PIN.

The feature is rolling out across Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu plans. It is unavailable for ChatGPT for Healthcare, temporary chats, archived chats, group chats, shared link chats, scheduled task chats, and chats containing meeting recordings.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?

Tensordyne

This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
