China Expands National AI Network to Boost Economic Growth
China is advancing its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities by establishing a national computing network, which is projected to significantly boost the country's economy. This initiative, announced at the China Computing Power Conference in Datong, Shanxi province, involves ten provinces and municipalities joining a unified platform. The platform is designed to match business demand with underused resources across regions.
The national computing network has already attracted over 100 service providers, 1,000 industry users, and nearly 100 AI models. This development is part of China's broader strategy to enhance its computing power and create a unified data market, with projections suggesting AI could contribute several trillion yuan to the economy by 2035.
This effort is part of China's ongoing push to reduce reliance on foreign technology and build a robust data infrastructure. The initiative aims to support various industries, including finance, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing, by leveraging a centralized, state-backed platform. The rapid expansion of China's computing capacity, particularly in AI applications, underscores the country's commitment to becoming a global leader in AI technology.
