82% of CHROs Report AI Changes to Workforce Planning
The Conference Board said in an announcement that 82% of surveyed US chief human resource officers report changes to workforce planning because of AI. Half describe the changes as slight, while 25% report moderate changes and 7% report significant changes.
Only 19% say anticipated AI effects are included in workforce and financial planning across their organization. Among organizations that changed their planning process, 67% analyzed the potential impact on jobs, tasks, or workforce demand, and the same share brought AI technology or AI leaders into planning discussions.
While 55% consider their organizations at least somewhat prepared to manage workforce changes from AI over the next two years, only 4% say they are very prepared. The main barriers are difficulty predicting AI's workforce impact, cited by 41%, limited AI skills at 39%, and an unclear AI strategy at 31%.
