Collibra Acquires trail ML for Automated AI Governance

Oct 5, 2026
Collibra acquired trail ML to add automated compliance assessments and runtime policy controls for AI systems and agents.

Collibra announces its acquisition of trail ML, according to a company press release. Founded in 2023 and based in Munich, trail ML develops automated governance tools for AI systems and agents.

The acquired technology analyzes evidence, identifies applicable rules and standards, assesses controls, and flags gaps. It can repeat assessments when supporting evidence changes, replacing manual reviews with continuously updated compliance checks.

trail ML also provides runtime controls that enforce Collibra policies where AI agents operate. These controls can block actions that violate policies before execution and support requirements under the EU AI Act, ISO 42001, and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework.
