CURRENC Plans 500MW AI Data Center in Malaysia
CURRENC Group Inc. has announced plans to develop a 500MW hyperscale Artificial Intelligence Data Center (AIDC) in Johor, Malaysia, as stated in a press release. The project will span 100 acres and be developed in phases, with the first phase of 100MW expected to be operational by the end of 2026.
The new facility will offer co-location and wholesale leasing solutions to hyperscalers, enterprise clients, and other data center users. This initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of AI technology by financial institutions, providing them with the necessary infrastructure to implement AI solutions effectively.
CURRENC is currently in discussions with potential anchor tenants, and construction of each phase will begin once long-term tenants are secured. The strategic location in Johor, close to Singapore, offers excellent data connectivity and favorable conditions for data center operations, making it an attractive destination for such projects.
