Danaher Plans AI Autonomous Lab for Antibody Research
In a press release, Danaher Corporation announces plans to launch an autonomous laboratory that combines AI, robotics and laboratory equipment. The lab will focus on creating and testing custom antibodies and other affinity reagents, with operations at scale expected in early 2027.
Based at Abcam, the lab will use AI to design reagents before automated systems build and test them. Results will return to the AI model to inform later designs, creating a continuous cycle of design, production, testing and learning.
The workflow will include technology from Beckman Coulter Life Sciences, Cytiva, Genedata, Integrated DNA Technologies and Molecular Devices, with robotic automation developed alongside Automata. Danaher says the lab is designed to make reagent discovery up to eight times faster and increase annual output from tens to hundreds of reagents as it scales.
