Digital Medicine Society Releases Digital Measures Set for Mental Health Disorders
The Digital Health Measurement Collaborative Community (DATAcc) by Digital Medicine Society has released the Digital Measures Set for Common Mental Health Disorders, announced in a press release. The set is the first of its kind developed specifically for common mental health conditions and was created with input from more than 20 partners across industry, advocacy, and research.
The resource provides a standardized foundation for measuring symptoms and treatment effects using digital health technologies. It includes seven validated measures covering sleep, physical activity, daily routine variability, cognitive function, speech and language changes, autonomic function, and facial and gaze features. These measures are intended for use in clinical trials and healthcare delivery to capture real-world patient experiences.
The set helps researchers and clinicians apply continuous, sensor-based data to better characterize patients and evaluate treatment effectiveness between visits. It also identifies areas where new measures are needed to support future development. The work builds on DiMe’s prior initiatives to advance sensor-based digital health technologies and supports the shift toward outcomes-based approaches in behavioral and mental healthcare.
Participating organizations include the American Psychological Association, BetterHelp, Compass Pathways, the FDA, MindMed, Otsuka, and Talkspace, among others.
