Elsevier Launches Osmosis AI Study Companion for Medical Students
Elsevier has launched Osmosis AI, a study companion designed for medical students that combines AI-powered conversation with the visual learning of Osmosis videos and verified Elsevier medical content, announced in a press release.
Osmosis AI integrates Elsevier’s evidence-based resources, including textbooks and clinical materials, with responsible AI technology to deliver cited, accurate, and curriculum-aligned answers. The tool allows students to ask questions, clarify misconceptions, and access related educational videos without leaving their study environment.
The platform supports United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 and Step 2 preparation, offering features such as topic summaries, evidence-based explanations, flashcard generation, and interactive quiz creation. Faculty can also use Osmosis AI to generate structured lesson plans, teaching tips, and formative questions.
Developed under Elsevier’s Responsible AI Principles, Osmosis AI emphasizes transparency and accuracy by grounding all AI-generated responses in verified sources. The service is now available to medical students, with further enhancements planned throughout the year.
