EQT Launches AI Infrastructure Strategy with EdgeConneX
EQT Infrastructure has introduced a new AI Infrastructure strategy focused on building the physical foundation for artificial intelligence, announced in a press release. The initiative will leverage EQT's experience in digital and energy infrastructure and is seeded by global data center developer and operator EdgeConneX.
The strategy aims to address the growing global demand for data centers and energy infrastructure driven by AI's expanding compute and power requirements. EQT stated that approximately four trillion dollars are expected to be invested in these sectors over the next five years. The company plans to use its portfolio of more than ninety data centers, an energy pipeline exceeding one hundred gigawatts, and a global fiber network to support AI workloads at scale.
EQT AI Infrastructure will be led globally by Jan Vesely and Christoph Balzer. EdgeConneX provides the strategy with an immediate platform across major data center markets in North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. Since its acquisition by EQT in 2020, EdgeConneX has expanded its capacity nearly twentyfold and plans to develop more than ten gigawatts of additional data centers in the coming years.
