Fermi America and the Texas Tech University System are collaborating to build the world's largest energy-driven AI campus in Amarillo, Texas, expected to deliver one gigawatt of power by 2026.

Fermi America and the Texas Tech University System have announced a partnership to develop the world's largest energy-driven Artificial Intelligence campus in Amarillo, Texas. In a press release, the project is described as a first-of-its-kind HyperGrid™ campus, integrating nuclear power, natural gas, solar power, and battery energy storage to support next-generation AI.

The campus, spanning 5,769 acres, aims to deliver up to 11 gigawatts of power and 18 million square feet of AI capacity. It is strategically located near major gas pipelines and the Pantex nuclear facility, providing a reliable energy supply. The project is expected to bring one gigawatt of power online by the end of 2026.

Co-founded by former U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, Fermi America is responding to calls for U.S. energy and AI dominance. The initiative is seen as a significant investment in the Texas Panhandle, enhancing the region's role in energy and technology sectors while providing academic and research opportunities through the Texas Tech University System.
