Work in Finland has announced a nationwide effort to recruit hundreds of engineers and postdoctoral researchers from the U.S. to support the country's quantum computing and AI sectors.

Work in Finland has announced a national initiative to attract hundreds of engineers and postdoctoral researchers from the United States to support Finnish research and development in quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and other advanced technologies, announced in a press release.

The program connects U.S.-based professionals in deep tech, microelectronics, photonics, and health technology with Finnish universities, research institutions, and companies. More than 30 Finnish organizations, including VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Aalto University, and Tampere University, are participating in the recruitment initiative.

To facilitate relocation, Finland’s Fast Track program allows international specialists to receive a work-based residence permit decision in as little as two weeks. The initiative is part of the Finnish government’s Talent Boost effort to strengthen the country’s competitiveness through global expertise and innovation.

Alongside this campaign, the Research Council of Finland is funding a 50-million-euro program (Profi 9) to help universities recruit international researchers between 2026 and 2030. The country aims to raise national research, development, and innovation spending to 4% of GDP by 2030.
