Ganiga raises €1.5 million for AI food waste platform
Ganiga raised €1.5 million in an equity round to expand its AI food waste technology, according to Tech.eu. Catering company Vivenda led the round, with London-based NextSTEP and three angel investors taking part. With €1 million from the Smart&Start Italia incentive program, Ganiga's total funding has reached €2.5 million.
Ganiga's HooolyFood system uses cameras above waste containers to identify discarded food without weighing it. A dashboard analyzes waste patterns and costs, helping catering operators adjust purchasing and menu planning. The system is used in operations serving more than 30,000 meals per day.
The Italian startup will use the funding to develop HooolyFood and its data platform, hire technical and commercial staff, and expand sales. Ganiga will initially focus on contract catering before targeting event catering, hotels, and other food service businesses.
