Gemini 4 Argon Agents Beat Minecraft Without Human Input
A Google DeepMind team used four Gemini 4 Argon agents to defeat Minecraft's Ender Dragon without human intervention, according to its research paper. The agents started in a randomly generated survival world on Easy difficulty with no assigned roles or strategies.
Each agent controlled a player through the open source Mineflayer library. The agents planned their actions, wrote and debugged JavaScript programs, divided tasks, exchanged information through game chat and shared memory, warned teammates about threats, and recovered items after deaths.
The run lasted 27 hours and 14 minutes. The agents wrote 2,783 programs, exchanged 229 chat messages, and died 605 times before defeating the dragon. Researchers monitored the session through a dashboard but did not intervene.
