Gemtek, Qualcomm and gFiber Unveil Wi-Fi 8 Gateway With Local AI

Oct 13, 2026
Gemtek, Qualcomm and gFiber have developed a Wi-Fi 8 broadband gateway that processes supported AI requests locally. Commercial deployment is targeted for 2027.

In a press release, Gemtek Technology Company Ltd said it is highlighting an AI native Wi-Fi 8 broadband gateway at Network X 2026, developed with Qualcomm Technologies and gFiber. gFiber will be the first operator to deploy the gateway, with commercial deployment targeted for 2027.

The gateway is built on the Qualcomm Dragonwing NPro A8 Elite Platform and runs software from Genix Networks, a Gemtek subsidiary. It combines quad band Wi-Fi 8 connectivity with Edge AI computing and is designed as a home internet hub and a local platform for agentic AI.

Subscribers can manage their home network with natural language voice commands and ask about device activity, performance and security. Local processing of supported requests can help protect privacy, improve responsiveness and reduce reliance on the cloud, according to Gemtek.
