Generative AI Use Reaches 63% of US Internet Households

September 10, 2026
Parks Associates reports that 63% of US internet households now use AI tools, while 22% pay for access.

Parks Associates says in a press release that 63% of US internet households use AI tools, up from 51% in 2025. Paid AI adoption has reached 22% of internet households.

Paid users gave higher Net Promoter Scores than free users across major generative AI services. DeepSeek recorded the highest score among paid users at 59, followed by Grammarly at 55, Perplexity at 51, and ChatGPT at 44.

Grammarly and Perplexity received free user scores of 15 and 10, respectively. Alexa+ and Meta AI each scored negative 10 among free users, compared with paid user scores of 40 and 28.

Two caveats on reading those numbers. A Net Promoter Score measures satisfaction among people who already chose that product, and paying users selected themselves, so the gap between paid and free scores says more about who is answering than about relative quality. Parks Associates attributes the figures to its AI Experience Consumer Insights Dashboard and does not give a sample size or fieldwork period in the announcement.
