Google Updates AI Content Guidance on Manual Metadata Review
HigherVisibility said in a press release that Google revised its official guidance on AI generated content on October 1, marking the document's first change in a year. Its comparison with the archived version found that the manual review guidance now covers title elements, meta descriptions, structured data and image alt text.
The revised document calls manual fact checking of all AI generated content before publication critical. This includes metadata that plugins, templates and automated content systems may create without human review.
The revision does not ban AI generated content or introduce a new penalty. The requirement to label AI generated product images with IPTC metadata was already present by May 2025, while Google's spam policies continue to target scaled content that adds no value regardless of how it was created.
