Google Tests Flipkart Purchases in Gemini and AI Mode in India
Google is testing purchases from Walmart owned Flipkart through Gemini and AI Mode in India, according to TechCrunch. A Buy button on selected listings opens a Flipkart checkout flow within the AI interface.
The limited test covers some users and a small group of products, including smartphones, electronics and mobile accessories. Google plans a broader rollout later in October, ahead of India's festive shopping season.
Amazon products appeared alongside Flipkart listings in the tested interface, but did not include the Buy option. The technology behind the test is unclear, and the checkout differs from the Google hosted experience previously demonstrated with the Universal Commerce Protocol.
