Google Adds Unified AI Agent to Gemini for Businesses
Google is adding a unified agent to Gemini by Google that can plan and complete tasks across workplace systems, according to TechCrunch. The company will initially offer the agent to businesses before releasing it to consumers.
Users can assign objectives, attach files and monitor progress through a tasks inbox. The agent can use custom tools, delegate work to other agents and connect with services including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Jira, Git, BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake and Model Context Protocol servers.
Gemini will select a model for each task by default, while users can choose alternatives including Claude models from Anthropic. The agent receives its own Workspace account, email address and company context, and records actions in an audit trail under its own identity. It will be available through mobile devices, desktop systems, command line tools, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, ServiceNow and Slack.
