Hammerhead AI and Columbia Study AI Factory Power Control
Hammerhead AI and Columbia University are collaborating on research into power orchestration for AI factories, the company said in a press release on October 6. The work will examine how reinforcement learning can coordinate power, cooling and compute within operational, reliability and safety limits.
Researchers will formulate and simulate control methods, then evaluate their performance under equipment limits and operating policies. The research will also examine how AI facilities can use available power capacity while maintaining controls defined by operators.
The Columbia team is led by Clifford Stein, a professor of industrial engineering, operations research and computer science. It includes researchers and graduate students from the university's Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, working with Hammerhead AI's engineering and simulation teams.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?
Tensordyne
This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
