Harmonic launches Recon fiber monitoring tools

Harmonic introduced Recon in a press release, a family of network monitoring tools developed with Comcast for broadband operators and other infrastructure providers. The initial offering is based on Comcast's XMFR fiber monitoring technology, which monitors network performance and provides location data for degradation and fiber cuts.

Recon combines hardware installed in networks, handheld diagnostic tools and cloud software. It can monitor fiber across access, metro and core networks, as well as links between data centers.

The software integrates with Harmonic's cOS SensAI intelligence fabric, which analyzes data collected by Recon to detect faults and confirm repairs. Harmonic plans to expand the Recon product family over time.
