HeroDevs has joined Akrites, a Linux Foundation backed initiative for coordinating open source vulnerability remediation and disclosure, the company announced in a press release.

Akrites handles duplicate vulnerability reports, triage, embargoed disclosure, and connections between maintainers and security response support. The initiative also can name a maintainer of last resort when an open source project no longer has an available maintainer to fix an issue.

HeroDevs said it will contribute engineering time to Security Incident Response Team activities. The company provides commercial support and security fixes for open source software after official support ends, including projects used by enterprise customers.

The announcement cites a rise in potential open source vulnerabilities surfaced by AI models. Akrites is designed to validate findings and coordinate fixes before public disclosure.
