Huawei Outlines AI Native Core Network for Agent Services
Huawei outlined in a press release a next generation core network architecture designed to support services delivered by AI agents. The company forecasts that the number of AI agents worldwide could reach 900 billion by 2035, increasing demand for networks that can process task requirements and coordinate computing resources.
The proposal covers three service scenarios. Agent Over New Radio would manage task latency for portable AI devices, a Wide Area Computing Network would schedule computing resources through mobile networks, and an Agent Computing Network would support secure collaboration among agents across companies and technical domains.
Huawei proposes intent based interfaces that let devices send networking, computing and performance requirements directly to the network. It also calls for a dedicated Data and AI Plane alongside control and user planes, with AI decision making integrated into network procedures to coordinate connectivity and computing.
