IBM and Inclusive Brains Collaborate on AI and Quantum Technologies for Brain-Machine Interfaces
IBM and Inclusive Brains have announced a joint study agreement to advance the understanding of brain-machine interfaces (BMIs) through the integration of AI and quantum technologies. In a press release, the collaboration aims to enhance the classification of brain activity patterns, which could significantly benefit individuals with disabilities by enabling them to control devices without physical interaction.
The study will leverage IBM's AI and quantum machine learning techniques to improve the performance of multimodal BMIs. These interfaces, developed by Inclusive Brains, will be tailored to adapt in real-time to the unique needs of each user, offering greater autonomy and accessibility. The initiative also includes the use of IBM's Granite foundation models to identify efficient algorithms for interpreting brain activity.
This collaboration underscores a commitment to responsible technology, with a focus on ethical considerations and the responsible use of neural data. The joint study is expected to produce a series of open science research publications, contributing to the broader scientific community and public understanding of neurotechnologies.
