ICON Raises $200 Million to Expand Robotic Construction Systems
ICON raised $200 million in Series D financing, the company announced in a press release. Baillie Gifford and funds managed by BlackRock jointly led the round, with participation from Capital Factory, Tiger Global, Norwest, and other investors.
ICON will use the funding to manufacture and deploy its robotic construction systems, open a large scale research facility in Austin, and expand across Texas, Florida, Washington, D.C., and other US markets. The financing will also support production of Titan, its multistory construction system, and further work on its Olympus technology.
The company says it has built more than 270 homes and other structures across five states and two countries. Its projects include a community of 3D printed homes in Georgetown, Texas, military installations for the US Army, and work with NASA on construction systems intended to build on the Moon.
