MFACE Gen2 combines 3D face tracking, AI facial recognition and biometric attack detection for traveler processing at borders and transport hubs.

IDEMIA Public Security launches MFACE Gen2, a facial recognition device for processing travelers at borders, ports and transport hubs, the company announced in a press release. The device automatically detects, tracks and captures faces as people move through its capture area, then performs biometric matching in real time.

MFACE Gen2 combines live 3D tracking of multiple faces with AI facial recognition and an embedded computing unit. It is designed to process families, people with reduced mobility and travelers wearing glasses or face masks.

Security features include Presentation Attack Detection, encrypted communications and secure web services. The device does not store biometric data locally and uses an open architecture for integration with existing systems. IDEMIA says more than 3,000 units from the MFACE product line are deployed in passenger processing and border programs worldwide.
