International Motors Begins Autonomous Fleet Trials with PlusAI
International Motors has initiated customer fleet trials using second-generation autonomous vehicles, announced in a press release. The trials, conducted in collaboration with PlusAI, will take place along the Interstate-35 corridor between Laredo and Dallas.
The autonomous fleet features an updated sensor suite and computer system, factory-installed on the International® LT® Series. These vehicles are powered by the S13® Integrated Powertrain and PlusAI's latest AI-based SuperDrive™ software. The trials are managed from International's autonomous hub in San Antonio, ensuring close collaboration with fleet operators.
The SuperDrive system, trained on real-world driving data, utilizes end-to-end AI models adaptable to various routes and conditions. The multimodal sensor kit includes imaging radar, lidar, and strategically placed cameras, providing 360-degree vision for precise and efficient autonomous operation.
This initiative marks a significant step in proving the commercial viability of autonomous technologies, aiming to enhance safety, efficiency, and operational cost-effectiveness in freight transport.
