Iwa Robotics Unveils Autonomous Drone Fleet for Wildfire Response

Iwa Robotics introduced three autonomous aircraft that handle wildfire reconnaissance, assessment, and aerial suppression.

Iwa Robotics has introduced HAWK, CANARY, and PELICAN, a three aircraft autonomous fleet for wildfire and emergency response, the company announced in a press release. The aircraft work together through its Discovery and Resolution Fleet framework.

HAWK conducts long endurance reconnaissance, while CANARY gathers data about fire behavior, threat levels, and risks to personnel. PELICAN targets hot spots and creates fire lines by continuously applying water from the air.

The system is designed for fire crews operating in areas where wildland meets urban development. Iwa plans to offer it through a managed fleet service that includes aircraft, autonomy training, data analysis, maintenance, and insurance. The company is demonstrating the fleet to fire and public safety agencies across eight states.
