Jason Isbell and Other Musicians Sue Suno Over Alleged Identity Misuse

Musician Jason Isbell and other artists have filed a proposed class action against Suno AI, the law firm Korein Tillery announced in a press release. The case was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

The complaint alleges that Suno commercially exploited musicians' identities without consent. It claims the platform can retrieve artists by name and generate songs, descriptions, and images intended to evoke their identities.

The plaintiffs also allege that Suno created and stored voiceprints indexed by artists' names while training its AI on their voices. The lawsuit asserts claims under several state right of publicity laws and the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act.
