Johnson Controls Recognized for Data Center Cooling Innovation
Johnson Controls has been named to Fortune's 2025 Change the World list for its innovative contributions to data center cooling, announced in a press release. The recognition highlights the YORK YVAM Air-Cooled Magnetic Bearing Chiller, a solution specifically engineered for hyperscale and AI-intensive data centers.
The YORK YVAM chiller is noted for its ability to reduce power consumption by 40% annually, operate without on-site water usage, and maintain low noise levels at 65 decibels. These features address the critical need for energy-efficient and sustainable cooling solutions in modern data centers, which are essential for supporting advanced AI workloads.
This marks the third time Johnson Controls has been recognized on Fortune's Change the World list, previously honored for its heat pump technology and OpenBlue smart building platform. The company's ongoing commitment to efficient and socially responsible data center operations is reflected in its investments in thermal management solutions and a dedicated Global Data Center Solutions organization.
