Johnson Controls Unveils YORK YDAM Chiller for AI and Multistory Data Centers
Johnson Controls announced in a press release the launch of the YORK YDAM, an air-cooled magnetic bearing centrifugal chiller built for high-density, multistory data centers and AI factories. The unit provides up to 3.5MW of cooling and offers a 20% increase in capacity density compared to other solutions.
The YORK YDAM is based on the company’s YVAM platform and is designed to operate efficiently in limited spaces. It fits on a standard 53-foot flatbed trailer to simplify transport and installation. Shipments are expected to begin in late 2026.
The chiller supports warm-water cooling up to 45°C for the latest generation of GPUs used in AI and high-performance computing. It can handle wide temperature differences, reducing pump size and energy use, and is intended to lower both capital and operating costs.
Developed at the Johnson Controls Advanced Development and Engineering Center, the YORK YDAM has been tested under extreme conditions and is supported by dedicated service and parts teams.
