Kong says Gartner named it a Leader in the 2026 Magic Quadrant for API Management for the seventh consecutive year, as stated in a company announcement. Gartner assessed vendors on their completeness of vision and ability to execute, with Kong placed furthest to the right for completeness of vision for the third consecutive year.

Kong reports that enterprise AI traffic as a share of total traffic on its platform grew sevenfold over the past nine months. It also says fewer than 1 percent of organizations running AI through the platform have controls designed specifically for AI governance.

The company recently introduced Kong AI Gateway 2.0, which adds governed access to agents and MCP tools, AI cost management, identity based policies, authentication for AI services, and support for more models and providers.
