Lanner Launches 5G Edge Server with Intel Xeon 6 SoC
Lanner Electronics has unveiled the ECA-5555, a next-generation compact edge server powered by the Intel Xeon 6 SoC, previously known as Granite Rapids-D, announced in a press release. This server is engineered to enhance AI-accelerated virtualized Radio Access Networks (vRAN) and edge computing applications, offering superior performance and scalability for next-generation networks.
The ECA-5555 is optimized for AI-accelerated 5G RAN and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) applications. It features a 1U design with a short chassis and front I/O, making it suitable as a Distributed Unit (DU) or Centralized Unit (CU) server for 5G RAN intelligence. Additionally, it supports content delivery applications such as media streaming and cloud gaming.
Equipped with the Intel Xeon 6 SoC, the ECA-5555 provides up to 2.4x capacity gain and 3.2x AI RAN performance per core gain compared to previous platforms. It includes integrated Intel Advanced Matrix Extensions (Intel AMX) and Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (Intel AVX) for RAN and AI workloads, along with vRAN acceleration via Intel vRAN Boost. The server supports two 100Gbps QSFP28 ports and eight 25Gbps SFP28 ports, ensuring high vRAN performance across a wide temperature range of -40 to 55°C.
The ECA-5555 will be available in Q2 2025, and Lanner plans to demonstrate it at MWC 2025 in Hall 5 (#5C86).
