LatusPet Publishes Study on AI Blood Test for Multi-Disease Screening in Dogs
LatusPet, a biotech startup from University of Oxford, announced in a press release the publication of a peer-reviewed study in Frontiers in Veterinary Science showing that its SINO platform can screen for multiple diseases in dogs using a single blood sample.
The platform combines blood NMR metabolomic analysis with machine learning to detect cancer, cardiovascular disease, and assess overall health in dogs with a diagnostic accuracy of over 90%. The study involved 139 dogs from veterinary centers in Italy and was led by Professor Riccardo Finotello of Link University in collaboration with Oxford scientists.
Unlike traditional studies that compare one disease to healthy animals, this research tested each condition against a mix of other diseases and healthy subjects, reflecting real clinical scenarios. The technology was built specifically for dogs, with plans to expand testing to additional diseases and species.
LatusPet stated that it is now extending trials to larger cohorts and seeking veterinary partners to implement the screening platform in routine clinical practice.
