Leopard Imaging and Lumotive Introduce Sirius Max 3D Perception Platform

Leopard Imaging Inc. and Lumotive introduced Sirius Max, a solid state 3D LiDAR and long range RGB and depth platform, in a press release. The system is designed for robotics, industrial automation, autonomous machines, automotive monitoring and edge systems.

Sirius Max combines RGB imaging and intelligent indirect time of flight depth sensing with Lumotive's programmable beam steering technology. It uses directional scanning instead of flood illumination, allowing software defined regions of interest without moving mechanical components. The companies state that it provides depth resolution of 1 MP and sensing beyond 20 meters indoors and outdoors.

The platform can transmit synchronized RGB video, depth data and controls through one coaxial cable using GMSL2 connectivity. Supported uses include mapping and localization, cliff detection, collision avoidance, visual inspection, object handling and navigation.
