LG Electronics Plans Virginia Chiller Factory for AI Data Centers

LG Electronics announced in a press release that it will establish its first US chiller factory in Virginia. The 350,000 square foot facility in Isle of Wight County will produce air cooled chillers for AI data centers, with production scheduled to start in the first half of 2027.

The plant will occupy a 43 acre site and create more than 150 jobs. LG will also expand air cooled chiller production at its Pyeongtaek and Changwon facilities in South Korea by adding conveyor based production systems.

LG plans to invest a total of KRW 150 billion in the Virginia factory and the two South Korean facilities. Its data center cooling portfolio also includes coolant distribution units and cold plates that remove heat directly from chips.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?

Tensordyne

This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
